Go See, Ask Why, Show Respect - Fujio Cho

Throughout my academic career, I've been shown the theories and formulas behind the foundations of engineering. On the other hand, my internship experience has shown me that true engineering goes beyond those calculations. Working alongside millwrights and operators within the Melt Shop at SDI has amplified the importance of adapting designs to factory conditions. A balance of analysis and practicality will ensure that designs will work on paper and in the field, which can be achieved through communication and field inspection. The hard work and quick solutions that I've seen millwrights contribute towards day-to-day operations have ultimately taught me the most.
At my internship, I’ve gained experience redesigning equipment, fabricating components, and verifying designs through testing. I truly love collaborating with both engineers and technicians to make sure ideas don’t just look good on paper and that they perform in the field.
I’m excited to bring my problem-solving mindset and practical experience into the energy and manufacturing industries.

If I had to describe myself as an animal, I’d choose a chameleon. Growing up, my family relocated nearly eight times across the country and even overseas to Nanjing, which taught me how to adapt quickly to new environments and challenges.

For me, engineering is about more than just formulas; engineering is about listening, adapting, and applying technical knowledge to solve meaningful problems. I thrive on collaboration and building practical solutions that work both on paper and in the field.
